How not to spam?
How to avoid sending a large number of emails to visitors? After all, even emails with good content are annoying if they come too often. And if the recipient is annoyed by the emails, they are likely to click the "Send to Spam" button.
There are several ways to make your mailings less intrusive. You can use them selectively or all together.
1. Abandoned cart emails
InSend has a pre-built campaign that prompts visitors to return to abandoned shopping carts. Be sure to set a limit on the number of emails per week or month.
For example, if you set the condition "Do not send more than 1 email per week", the visitor will receive only 1 email per week even if they go to the website 5 times per week and abandon their shopping cart.
Choose your limit based on the characteristics of your target audience: compare someone who frequently updates their shopping cart with someone who rarely visits your website.
2. Abandoned product views emails
Here you need exactly the same conditions as for emails about abandoned carts. Perhaps they should be even stricter, because often visitors visit a website just to look around, learn about the features of a product or compare prices. It would be unpleasant if they received an email after each visit.
Make sure you limit the number of emails per week with the "Abandoned view script.
3. A regular newsletter segment
If you have a scheduled newsletter that you send regularly to a visitor segment, do not forget to add a condition that this newsletter has not been sent yet.
For example, below we have a regular mailing, "Coupon Mailing". Every day, the visitors of the "Have not bought in a while" segment are checked and an email is sent to them.
If a visitor has already received this email today but has not purchased anything, they will receive the email again tomorrow because they still meet the segment conditions. To prevent this, add the condition "'Coupon mailing' has not been sent yet" to the segment. Then you can be sure that each visitor will receive an email from this mailing list only once.
4. One newsletter a day
If you have multiple regular mailings, it is likely that some visitors will receive multiple emails per day. For example, an email about an abandoned cart, a one-time newsletter, and a regular mailing.
To prevent this, set the condition "Newsletter - ______ - not sent - since 1 day". In this case, do not choose the name of a specific mailing, as in our screenshot. Then this email will go today only to those who have not received mailings in the last few days.
Add these conditions to your mailing lists and your visitors will be secured against a flood of emails. So the efficiency of your mailings will be higher.
